Allingtons’ Urban Orchard Management Program
Urban Orchard Management
Our Urban Orchard Management program covers…
Soil Health
Feeding the precious microorganisms in your soil to their best potential to support your health and vitality.
Tree Fertilising
Timing and deficiencies need to be taken into consideration when feeding your trees. For orchards over 10 trees, we highly recommend a professional soil test to identify any deficiencies in the soil and formulate a fertiliser based on the soil requirements
Irrigation
This is an important but often overlooked component of fruit tree growing in the suburban areas. Adequate water supply that maintains stable soil moisture to your tree is important in all stages of growth, and can prevent fruit drop, poor pollination and lack of development in fruit at the end stage prior to picking.
Mulching
Keeping a stable soil moisture and temperature to keep your soil fertile and avoid stress on your tree.
Pruning & Training
This is a comprehensive process: from the early formative pruning of a young tree to building a strong frame, to thinning and the removal of damaged or diseased limbs, and lowering the canopy.
Pest & Disease Management
Identifying and remediating problems as they occur is a key part of fruit growing. Left uncontrolled, these problems can be detrimental to your crop or your tree’s health.
Netting
This starts at pruning time, regulating the height to form fruit lower in the canopy. This allows for netting to be undertaken after the fruit has set on the tree. As important as netting a tree is, it is also important to remove the net once fruit has been picked to avoid damage to the net from tree growth.
Through Allingtons Lawn & Carden Care Urban Orchard Management program, we’ve got your trees covered.
